Why You Should Print Your Photographs
The digital age we live in is incredible. It’s mind-blowing. The ability to take and share photos from our phones is sensational. However, like most good things in life, it has its drawbacks.
Technology offers so many positives but the negatives should not be forgotten.
The rate which technology changes and evolves is breathtaking. We don’t know what this means in terms of future compatibility. It’s really important we protect the photographs and create a true archive.
So what do I mean by a true archive?
Well, it’s something tangible, a physical item which will record history and stand the test of time.
We cannot say for sure whether our digital photos will be compatible with future technology. There is always the possibility files become corrupt or lost. We can mitigate these risks but there is always a chance of losing them.
People often answer this with, “Well, your house could burn down and then you’d lose your photos”. Yes, this is a valid point but the chance of this are statistically very low. That’s not to say it can’t happen and if this has happened to you I know the devastation it causes (I used to be a firefighter).
Compare that to digital content. All of us have lost some form of digital data. Maybe something didn’t save, a computer failed or you damaged your phone and lost some information.
This type of loss is far more likely and the chance of experiencing it is far greater.
My final point about creating this photographic archive is to preserve your legacy. A physical item such as a photo album is much more likely to be treasured and passed through generations than a collection of digital files. It’s something your family can hold on to and retain that lasting memory.
Hopefully, by now you’ll agree with me and see the benefits of printing your photos. I am not suggesting you print every single photo you take but perhaps print some from memorable occasions. I like to create a printed album once a year of my photos. From holidays to trips away or family gatherings.
Even if you don’t do this on a regular basis your wedding should be one occasion you want to remember. Whether you purchase a wedding album from me or decide to print your own. The important point is that you print them, that doesn’t have to be all of them but definitely some!
So there you go, take lots of photos, enjoy them. And be sure to PRINT them! :)
I offer printed wedding albums within some of my packages which you can view here or get in touch if you’d like to discuss your wedding album plans.
