How To Choose Your Wedding Photographer
When choosing your wedding photographer find the right style for YOU.
There is no point in hiring a photographer who isn’t going to capture the photos you’re hoping for. You are probably not sure what style you´re looking for, this is completely normal, it’s not something you have to do every day. However, spend some time researching, look at the work of local, national and international wedding photographers. You’re looking to ascertain style here not necessarily book your photographer at this point. Instagram and Pinterest are great starting points. You can see my portfolio here.
Should I choose a local wedding photographer?
It’s great to use local suppliers and I completely support using a local photographer but don’t be put off looking a little further afield. Most wedding photographers will gladly travel, many of us relish the chance to photograph new destination wedding venues.
Personally I love to photograph unique wedding destinations. The variety is the most appealing aspect. I want to create stunning and ultimately totally unique photographs for you. I want to deliver you an album which tells the fairytale story of YOUR day. I definitely don’t want to provide you a catalogue of photos and poses which have been replicated many, many times.
How much does a wedding photographer cost?
Anything is the short answer. You will find a photographer for every budget but don´t be swayed by price. Absolutely you will have a budget to stick to, if you don’t congratulations, you are in an extremely small and very lucky group of people! However for most of us the sky is not the limit so you need to be realistic on what you spend.
It’s all about finding the right photographer for you. My advice is to not initially put a monetary value on your wedding photographer. You need to think about all of your costs and what value each of them will have to you, your guests and lasting memories. It’s easy to budget for everything and leave the photographer until last.
However, your photographer is probably one of the most important things to consider when planning your wedding.
How much value will you put on having wedding photographs to look at forever?
Photographs to be passed down the generations?
Creating a true archive of your wedding day has such an important value.
Having beautiful wedding favours or offering a free bar will see your guests very happy for the day. They will even take away great memories but all of these will eventually fade with time. Photographs will stand the test of time and never be forgotten.
Your wedding photographer should deliver these memories to you.
